View Full Version : One more LCD monitor question

First, thanks to styrafome and DeltaMac for answering my earlier question.

One more question.

I've noticed when my new LCD monitor wakes from a prolonged sleep, it takes a bit for it to return to full brightness. Perhaps a minute or so. Is this normal? When it wakes from a short sleep, the brightness is as it should be.

Again, my setup is:

PowerMac G4 MDD 1.25 single processor with 1.75 gigs of ram and a new Samsung 245BW 24" LCD monitor attached via DVI to ATI Radeon 9600 video card with 256mb of memory.

This is the warmup time of the fluorescent backlight bulb. It is why they tell you not to calibrate it until it's been on for at least a half an hour. If it slept for a short time...it's still warm.

CRTs have a warmup time too. But the LED backlights on the MacBook Pro 15" are supposed to have little to no warmup time and are said to be bright right away.

OK. Thanks again styrafome.
