Drag and Drop

I don't know if anyone has run into this, but I just got a new DP/800 w/10.1 installed, but I haven't been able to drag and drop text out of any application except AppleWorks 6.

Does copy/paste work OK? That's what I generally use anyway.

FWIW, I drag and drop text in Eudora pretty often, and just dragged and dropped a block of text from Eudora into Mozilla (which I'm using) with no problem.

Copy and paste works just fine, but I dragged text and made clippings on the desktop, and now I can't. The really odd thing is my friend's G4/350 with the same software can drag and drop in and out of everything and make clippings galore. Alas, I have no idea what the problem could be.
