Pages 08: Why is the text charcoal and not black?

Does anybody know why the text in Pages 08 lacks on-screen density? Compared to another word processor, like Nisus, the text in Pages 08 looks grey/charcoal, when the text in Nisus is dense black. I'm looking at them at the same zoom levels.

My text looks the same color in Pages as it does in Word. Perhaps Nisus Writer doesn't anti-alias the text.

Yes, Nisus antialiases text. I haven't got Office installed so I can't compare.

Hmmm... I have my font settings on "Strong" for OS X-wide antialiasing. I wonder if Pages is ignoring this setting?
