I'm currently trying to install OpenSolaris on my MacBook, but the installer complained about the root partition being required to be before cylinder 1023. Unfortunately this is where my OS X partition currently sits. Is it safe to move my OS X partition forward by about 5 or 6 gigabytes with parted? Will OS X still be bootable if it isn't the second partition on the drive? Thanks in advance.
