For some reason making calls with jajah.com doesn't seem to work with iPhone. I was wandering if one of you guys could check this or if you know of another service online like jajah.com. A priori, these should work and give you cheap/free calls...

I was able to complete a jajah call as follows:

1. Use mobile.jajah.com
2. I directed the call to my landline, did not try directing it to my mobile. Don't see why it would not work, though.

yeah, I made the mistake of posting a new thread, I think there's some more discussion in this thread (http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=73768).

Edit: I just saw that you couldn't direct your call to your mobile, that's weird, I did a test call to a mobile in Argentina without problems and to another iPhone in the US it went smoothly.

So basically Jajah is just making the LD bridge between two phones? I was excited thinking maybe it was a VoIP phone app.

At any rate, the result is the same, just sit on your favourite WiFi Hotspot and call anywhere in the world for a few cents..

Am I missing something?

It still uses up cell minutes. A VoIP phone would not only bypass that, but allow you to use enhanced VoIP features, use it as your office desk phone with the office VoIP PBX, etc. T-Mobile has the right idea with their new blended service. Once we can get VoIP on the iPhone, there's a lot of power to be had.

Agreed, it'll be much nicer when the guys at the wiki or someone else can run Skype or something like that on iPhone, but as of now this is the cheapest way I found to make long distance calls. Is there anything better out there?
