gilfortes,

To delete all of Fink, windowmaker and The Gimp, open terminal.app and type :

sudo rm -rf /sw

To delete XFree86, type in terminal.app :

sudo rm -rf /usr/X11R6 /etc/X11 /Applications/XDarwin.app

If you want to start again, I must tell you that if you are willing to wait, very soon, they will release Fink-0.5.0 and you will be able to install in 10.2 binary packages, which is much easier than installing from source.

Let me know.

Cheers...

Dear Sao:
thank you for your help.
just tried what you said, but when looked into the directories, some still had files in it.
Here is what I type in the terminal:

gilfortes,

Yes, you didn't typed the spaces in the command:

sudo rm -rf /usr/X11R6 /etc/X11 /Applications/XDarwin.app

You typed: sudo rm -rf /usr/X11R6/etc/X11/Applications/XDarwin.app

They are not all together, each location is separated by a space:

sudo rm -rf /usr/X11R6(space)/etc/X11(space)/Applications/XDarwin.app

Try again and let me know.

Cheers...

Dear Sao:
sorry for not having typed the right command; but this time i did type it as you said and the result is the same as you can see:

[Cristal:~] gil% sudo rm -rf /usr/X11R6 /etc/X11 /Applications/XDarwin.app
Password:
[Cristal:~] gil% cd /usr
[Cristal:/usr] gil% ls
bin lib local share

As you can see some of the directories do not exist already, probably because of all the rubish I did before. Also in my home directory there is a directory called GNUstep wich has in it a windowmaker directory:

[Cristal:~] gil% cd GNUstep

gilfortes,

Sorry about that, I didn't really read your messages throughly before. I just saw the command you wrote without spaces.

:) Your installation of XFree86 is erased already. (And also Fink is deleted)

[Cristal:/usr] gil% cd X11R6
X11R6: No such file or directory.

[Cristal:/etc] gil% cd X11
X11: No such file or directory.

-------------------------------

The rest you get:

[Cristal:/usr] gil% cd /etc
[Cristal:/etc] gil% ls
6to4.conf gdb.conf motd rpc
afpovertcp.cfg gettytab named.conf rtadvd.conf
appletalk.cfg group networks services
appletalk.nvram.en0 hostconfig openldap shells
authorization hosts pam.d slpsa.conf
bashrc hosts.equiv passwd smb.conf
crontab hosts.lpd periodic smb.conf.template
csh.cshrc httpd printcap ssh_config
csh.login iftab profile sshd_config
csh.logout inetd.conf protocols sudoers
cups kern_loader.conf racoon syslog.conf
daily localtime rc ttys
defaults magic rc.boot ttys.installer
dumpdates mail rc.cleanup weekly
find.codes mail.rc rc.common xinetd.conf
fstab.hd manpath.config rc.netboot xinetd.d
fstab.rd master.passwd resolv.conf xtab
fstab.sd moduli resolver

[Cristal:~] gil% ls
Addresses Network Trash Folder
Adobe SVG 3.0 Installer Log Pictures
Desktop Public
Documents QLOG
GNUstep Sites
Games Temporary Items
Library TheVolumeSettingsFolder
Movies XFree86_4.2.0_for_Darwin_InstallLog.xml
Music startx.txt

it belongs to MacoOS X and it should be there, "don't you erase it!"

Except you could delete also the GNUstep folder if you want with:

[Cristal:~] gil% rm -rf GNUstep

Cheers...

Thank you very much for your help; thought that /usr and /etc directories should be deleted too, but was wrong.
Will wait for the release of Fink-0.5.0 to install everything again.
