Obviously no, as they use different connectors, but if I were to get one of those IDE to SATA gadgets is it possible?

I ask because my G4 dual 1.42 is on its knees at the moment trying to handle a project I'm working on, and after some extensive whining to my bf he said I was welcome to use his G5 dual 2GHz. The thing is I've got my mac set up just how I like it, and I have one hardrive for general stuff and one for my audio library so I need to be able to put both of them into his mac.

In my head I'd basically be getting exactly the same computer just faster, unless there's any particular software quirks between G4's and G5's OS? Can anyone see any problems with me doing this?

Thanks for the help!

You can also probably find a PCI ATA card and install the PATA drive alongside the SATA, which just might be more reliable and easier to accomplish than trying a converter.

Now, there ARE definitely "software quirks" between the two machines, so you probably cannot boot from the older drive until you install the OS from your G5 installation disks to it. Then, it should boot from either drive.

Why not just create (a) new user(s), then copy your G4's user(s) to the G5's new user(s)?
