View Full Version : OSX and airport
hi folks, I'm using a TiPb 500 with an Apple airport card (silver base station). Unfortunately the airport connection with OSX (now Jag 10.2.2) seems to be MUCH less stable than with OS 9.2... Any suggestions?
read some things on the apple forums and found a solution... there is one airport antenna located in the battery slot. To reconnect the antenna to the frame, I had to rub on the stickers in the battery slot... The airport connection with X is much better now... still not as good as with 9

As I recall the TiBooks had reception problems with wireless that was corrected in later versions. Still dosn't explain why you'd have better os9 performance than X in same TiBook though.

I have the 500 mhz TiBook too, and I don't notice any difference in signal strength between OS 9 and OS X. However, I do highly recommend fixing the Airport antenna like you suggested. You can also fix the other antenna located next to the optical drive by turning the TiBook over and removing the back cover. (See page 78 of the manual (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=50120).) I've found that after pressing these antennas back to their intended position greatly improves reception to a point that even if you are getting less of a signal in X for some odd reason it shouldn't make a noticeable difference
yeah, I noticed the other airport "window" on the right of the case and was wondering if I have access to this airport antennas, too. Thx a lot!!
