Problem reinstalling printer -- on Windows PC

winXP Home SP2; OE 6; IE 6; Dell Dimension XPS T450MHz Pentium III; AVG; spybot S&D; ad-aware; cable; WordPerfect8; Lexmark Laser printer "Optra E310")

Hello, I hope I'm in the right place? I didn't see a "Printers" forum so I chose "Hardware and Peripherals" and hope it's okay.

I have problems reinstalling my laser printer. After I tried several times, I seethe icon on "My computer" butnothing happens when I double click... I first went to Lexmark website to download the latest drivers (if any) and it wouldn't do it. Then I tried reinstalling with my CD but got this msg:

This version of the CD does't support the Microsoft Windows 2000 (I don't have this windows, I have winXP). Visit Lexmark.com/NA/win2000/ for info and availability of Windows 2000 drivers and utilities.
Yet, I've had this prnter for quite a few years. Would any one know why and how I can do this reinstalling?

Well, actually you’re not quite in the right place, as this is a Mac OSX Forum, and you have a pure Windows question. That’s why I’m moving it into the open Coat Room and adding info in your thread name.

You would do be far more likely to get good help if you posted in a Windows Forum.
