I have a G4 with a Laserwriter IIf hooked up through a ethernet hub and a Farralon Etherthin Printer adaptor. The printer works fine in OS 9.2 but not in OSX. When I print in OSX nothing happens. If I try to open the print center it tries then crashes. I think the print center is corrupted is there any way to reinstall the print center? Any help appreciated.:(

Well that didn't work so...

Thundarr, I had no luck with the alternate-user solution, but I have found a fix for the "can't add a printer" problem on Apple's discussion boards that others may find useful.

It looks like it's the most recent printer updates that are causing the problem. I went into library/printers/ and whacked everything but the PPD folders -- gone are the Canon folder, the Epson folder, the HP folder, etc.

Now it works just fine. Good thing I don't own a Canon, HP or Epson!

Thundarr, many thanks for your efforts to resolve my very irritating problem. I hope I can be of similar service to you at some point.

I had the same problem and after doing the above, was able to set up my printer. I then re installed the items I deleted and everything now works fine.
