View Full Version : How can I open a .XLR file??
02-22-2007, 03:09 AM
Just been sent an XLR file and I tried to open it in Excel but that was dimmed out and only Word was available. That opened it but no text/info was in the cells.
Any pointers appreciated.
The XLR file type is apparently an MS Works file, and Office can't open them. Oddly, or may not, Microsoft provides no means of converting between the two. If you have access to MacLink Plus, it can generally do the conversion.

I'm not sure if this will work, but try changing the file extension from .xlr to .xls and see if Excel will open the file. It might not have all the formatting, but the data might be there.

Thanks for these replies gents. I managed to get a excel-formatted file from the sender in the end. Saved $25 for the MacLink but probably a very handy app.to have around.
I tried changing it to xls but no dice - worth a try and thanks again guys.
