ok heres the deal, this thing worked fine when we got it... then an employee took it home and had to set it to dhcp to work on his internal network at home with his linksys router and cable modem.
He has done this before and it was fine. But the last time he brought it back i went to configure it to be back on our network, we use it as a bridge rather than a router, it is unseen by the airport admin utility. i tried os 9, os X, and even the windows application.
the windows app saw it, but can't configure it, it gets an #4 error. While all this was happening, i tried a soft reset and it let me on the network for 5 mins, and then the soft reset stopped and i was knocked off. I then tried a hard reset and tried to configure it with the TiBook and a crossover cable, nothing. although the ABS successfully gave the TiBook a 169 prefixed ip using dhcp...
my last try this eveneing was to do a reset to default settings, i was told that i needed to hold in the reset button for 30 seconds, i tried this twice. Once with the cat5 and power plug in, and once with both out, i got nothing...am i even doing this right?
sorry to be so wordy, but i just want everyone to know what my problem is, and what happend before, and what i have tried.... if anyone can help me out with this, it would be a really big help!! thanks......
