Web Sharing

I have enabled (Personal) Web Sharing in the System Pref Sharing. It has been almost one hour since doing that and Web Sharing is still "starting up". I fear something has gone awry.

Question is: how long should it take for Web Sharing to start up?

i would investigate the console messages and the /var/log/system.log for any illuminating errors

finder launch /Applications/Utilities/Console, turn on crash logs in prefs

% more /var/log/system.log

What OS are you using? If its 10.1 or higher, you have to manually edit the httpd.conf file. Here is a KBase Article (http://kbase.info.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/kbase.woa/wa/query?type=id&val=106505).

If that doesn't help, try and tell us a little more about your setup. For example, what kind of computer are you running, what version of the system software do you have, how are you connected to the internet, are you behind a firewall, etc.

On my G4/500 Mhz 896 MB RAM, it takes a second or two to start up.
