Our Tivos are on our wireless network along with four computers all connected through an Airport. We have Comcast cable.
On the computers we note that sometimes the connection slows for a few minutes. But the computers continue to work.
The Tivos freeze and must re-boot. So they may not record a prgram. I wouldn't care so much if they stuttered ad didn't record a minute of a prgram because the ISP connection fluttered. But when they freeze nothing gets recorded till we restart them (unplug and replug.) If we are not home for a week, or even if we are home but over-scheduled, and so never turn on the Tivo to discover it's frozen, we could miss a week's worth of recording.
These freeezes occur perhaps every 3 or four days or may not occur for ten days. It's an ongoing problem. It happens on 2 Tivos, and we have replaced one of the Wifi dongles, so I doubt any of that equipment is responsible.
I am fairly certain that the freezes are being caused by the wifi connection. One of the Tivos can be connected by a telephone cord elongated by a coupler and runing across the floor in a way designed to make people trip and fall. We tried this once for a few days and that Tivo never froze during that time. We don't want Tivo to connect via the phone lines for manay reasons, however, so that's not a solution, it was just a test.
Does anybody have the same issue or a solution?
