I don't seem to be able to remember setting up my root password. Is there a way to reset it? I got this machine from my dad, so I wiped the hard drive and reinstalled. I don't remember setting up a root password. I only remember my main/admin password.
I'm trying to set up Apache to run CGI scripts an need to have root access to edit certain files.
Can anyone give me a clue?
Thanks in advance.

OK, open the 'NetInfo Manager' application in '/Applications/Utilities'.
After authenticating as an administrator, in the menu go to 'Domain' -> 'Security' -> 'Enable Root User' and follow the steps...
Izza mucho fazile... :)

You can also go to the Terminal and type sudo passwd root. Enter you admin password. Then enter the password you want for root. Then verify root password. That's it.

cybergoober,
Thanks for the answer. DrJerph clued me in, so now I have the password set up.
sudo is a great way to get things done too, but I guess sometimes you gotta get down to the basement and muck around.
Thanks again.
