This are the features I miss from OS 9.x, that I wish would come from Apple on the next revision of OS X.

I have 2 OSX boxes (Dual G4 & TiBook) & I can't share a printer.. It's pathetic that a "graphical" company like Apple would leave out such a large feature.

I noticed a new Cocoa application for setting up an Airport Base Station. I haven't tried it, so I can't vouch for it, but you can find it here:

The third party software you are talking about (SWBSX) is very nice. It is a Cocoa app that walks you through setting up the connectivity requirements and command line changes as well as bundling in the very nice IPNetShare software. However....it is not an Apple made Software Base Station.
The solution only works intermittently for me. Up for a while...now dead. No amount of fiddling with it works.
The Apple made solution worked every time and all the time. Their short sighted view took away one of the key points that I used to sell people on for buy a couple Mac computers. "Hey, buy two and set up one as a server for your other one on the internet!" Believe it or not....it worked. Saving the $200-$300 for a hardware router/access point actually made a difference when talking about how "cheap" it was to own quality Apple computers. I don't know if Windows XP has a Software Base Station feature, but then niether do any of the people that I talk to (at least none we coud find). So the argument has actually sold quite a few Macs through me. With OS X, I do not have the confidence to point out that argument.
Bottom line, in order for Apple to sell a few more $299 pieces of hardware, they are killing orders of $1,299+ computers.
Apple truly needs to add this back in.
