View Full Version : flashing error codes with the power button. What are they?

I've been having a problem with some RAM lately and now have been trying to find a nice guide or list of the error codes and what they mean. I have some RAM from OMNI technologies (four sticks of 256 pc...Um...Well they have a label sticker of PC133 but also have a sticker on the end of PC100). Anyhow, they were working fine in a blue and white G3 that I had upgraded a while back. Then I got my hands on a little G4 Gigabit Ethernet Dual 450 and figured that it would work better in there. I took it out of the G3 (which is currently at my parents house and not near me for testing) and when I put it into the G4 I get a short beep tone with the power light flashing once long and then once short. I know this has something to do with RAM or at least something with an error in the startup. I thought the RAM became bad during transport and I sent it to the company to get it replaced and it does the same thing. Now I'm figuring that it's incompatable, but I would like to find out what the codes (I know there's multiple ones) mean just for future reference. Thanks.

Thank you, that helped me a bit. Is there any seperate meanings to the blinking of the power button or is it just there to let you know that there's an error with the Power On Self Test (POST)?
