View Full Version : Disk Utility says "Invalid Argument" when I try to copy and Image

I'm trying to copy a dvd as an image on my iMac as I've done other dvds and when it finishes copying the Image, it says "Invalid Argument". I've tried it on two drives already, my internal and external and I get the same thing.

The dvds (there are 2) are from the same source and they are not retail dvds.

Does anyone know its doing this?

Launch Disk Utility. Select the name of the DVD (not the DVD mechanism) on the left pane of DU. Now, look at the bottom of DU--please tell us what it says about the DVD, especially the format.

What program are you using to copy the DVD?

What source are these DVDs from?

Thanks for the quick reply Trevor

Heres what it says:

Mount Point : /Volumes/New
Format: Universal Disk Format
Write Status: Read Only
Number of Folders: 2
Capacity: 3.1 GB
Available: 0 Bytes
Used: 3.1 GB
Number of Files: 18

I'm basically doing what I've always done. I launch Disk Utility, insert the dvd, then click the dvd, click on "New Image", name it, change Image format to DVD/CD Master, and Save it.

Mount Point : /Volumes/New

So the name of the DVD is "New" ?
Not that there's anything wrong with that - it just seems strange.
