weird retarded upgrade artifact

I recently did an archive...clean install of Jaguar and then found in my home directory a file named .?"

so my question is: what is it and how do I pattern match it to rm this weird little thingie

Either .\?\" or '.?"' should get to it from Terminal; as to what it is, I have no idea. Start with a file '.?"' and vi/pico it if it might be readable. Otherwise, strings '.?"' might elicit something interesting.

$ touch ./.\?\" # i did this to create the file, you don't do this, obviously

$ rm ./\.\?\"

that worked here on a file explicitly named thusly.

what's in the file? you might want to rename it (mv) with the above filename incantation.

As always I am amazed at the skill and speed of the list members...
as it turned out it was an old install script I used to install some gnu software that
was horibly butchered by me in the installation process...read thru the whole thing just something inoccuous.
