My system specs are: PowerBook G4 1.25ghz with 768megs of ram and a geforce 5200 with 64megs.

Right after I start WOW my fan speed increases to max over the first couple of minutes of playing the game; it even does this after a cold boot. My computer is sitting on a cooling board and has an external display connected with the laptop display off. The first few times I played the game it did not do this, now it does most of the time. Any ideas how I could fix this?

thanks,

jake

There is no fix.. WoW is a very CPU & GPU intensive game.
And the patches have made it more so..
And since there's no way to run WoW without their patches....

You'll have to live with it. For the record, I have the exact same model with !GB of RAM and fans that run almost immediately upon starting the game.

Some have suggested that a PMU reset helps with these situations. Search Apple Support for "powerbook PMU".

It's also good to make sure that your firmware is up to date, and that you're using the latest OS. Run Software Update, and check Apple's support pages for the latest firmware.

You want your fans to run as much as possible. That's to keep your GPU from melting.

Now, if it's making a rattle or loud whine, that would indicate a problem.
