Can I have some opinions, please, on the best products for filtering out adult/porn sites so far as using them with OS X is concerned? Stuff I've checked out seems mainly geared to Windows but there must be some Mac-applicable stuff that you guys have found does the job?

What exactly do you need to prevent what ?
www.safeeyes.com advertises itself as working with both Macs and PCs. While I can't say that this is my preferred method of parental (or employee) control, I understand the reasons for wanting that option. There is NOTHING you can do to entirely defeat access to offending sites if the user is really intent upon getting to them, so the best approach (IMHO) is to be open and clear with the users why you want them to avoid such materials and to educate them appropriately about what sound, safe use of the internet consists in. Otherwise, the day will come when your teen is NOT restricted by this sort of software and still needs that sort of instruction in the dangers and proper use of the internet.
