HP PSC 1215 Not printing black (w/ full cartridge)

I haven't had to print anything in a few months and don't know what the freaking printer is acting up, but I have loads of papers due next week and would love it if I could resolve this.

My HP PSC 1215 works fine on its own. I can copy documents, and it prints out black just fine. However if I try to print out anything from OS X it prints a white page. I prints colour just fine, but black is a no-no...
I tried getting rid of the drivers and reinstalling them, but no use. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Have you tried forgetting the printer and then rediscovering it?

As to hp, decent hardware, sucky software/firmware.

Um, the answer is probably yes... but what exactly do you mean?

You may have also, but it is worth a try (explicitly!).

Go to Preferences/Printer & Fax
select the printer and delete it
you may want to restart at this time - just to make sure



Go to Preferences/Printer & Fax
add the printer - as you would normally



Is there a hp printer utility that you could use to examine the printer? That utility may give you some hints as to what is going on. I think the utilities gets installed via hp install, not through the ppds.

As a note -
I always like to restart after hardware changes - it insures that all the drivers are "dis-engaged".
From experience, I never found that I had too many reboots in between my hardware or software installs or removals.
