Is there a way to completely remove Dashboard from the system for all users?
I don't want it on the system at all.

I would think you could just remove /Applications/Dashboard.app? Don't you?

I tried that but it still opens. I searched the HD for any dashboard reference and removed them also. It still opens.

And you restarted after removing it? ;)

It's loaded into RAM and always running, so a restart (logout (maybe)) has to be performed.

I think there has been at least one article on the main macosxhints about this.

I couldn't find anything relating to removing the dashboard 'engine', perhaps my search was skewed and didn't hit on the right result..

I still use Konfab.. and find it more useful than Dashboard, mainly due to when I don't want it running - I can quit with one action, with dashboard each widget needs to be closed individually (a pain in the orson!).

Deleted Dashboard from apps folder and rebooted. It still opens. I triple checked to make sure it was gone and emptied the trash.
I searched the board on this topic but only found ways to remove widgets or use system pref to disable it from the mouse button.
I need to completely remove it.

How about disabling it?

Why do you want to completely remove it?

I've disabled it and use Yahoo! Widget (formerly Konfabulator)

Dashboard is part of the Dock, I believe. I don't think it can be "removed", though if you disable the keyboard shortcut there's no way you'd accidentally activate it.
