DVD ROM of my G4/350 fails to read any CD-ROM and there is no driver for the bundled Apple original SCSI card. I could not connect my SCSI-based Yamaha CD-ROM writer to G4/350.

I can buy a used Adaptec SCSI card, which model should I look for to work under OS 10.4.4

The other alternative is using a SCSI-USB converter. May I have feedback on this converter? It is worthwhile investing into this piece of hardware.

Don't buy adaptec, buy ATTO. Adaptec dropped their mac support for systems above 10.2.8.

Adaptec didn't drop support, Apple did. With the introduction of OS 10.3, apple removed the drivers for "built-in" SCSI hardware. In doing so, any SCSI card without firmware will not work.

Adaptec has not updated their drivers for OS X since approximately OS X 10.0.0. They don't work in 10.3.x and 10.4.x, even if you manually install them into the OS. This can hardly be blamed on Apple.
