I use a Palm extensively with my Mac, but sincerely wish it was more Puma / Jaguar integrated. Palm is just not interested in Mac, the proof is in the programming they do..
Today I came across an article (http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1105-820759.html) about the other Steve. There are new rumors floating about that say Steve may work with Steve to have this new wireless venture very Mac-savvy, iSync / Rendezvous spotlight stuff!
Thoughts? Deep insights?

I use an older Handspring Visor. Nice enough since I don't ask too much from it - remember dates, names, addresses, notes, etc. I like that I can sync it across platforms - Windows (Boo! Hiss!!) at work, G4 (yeah!!) at home. It pisses me off that Handspring has yet to come up with a Palm Desktop that is OS X - native. So far the old Desktop/Hotsync runs OK in Classic, and Handspring claims the OS X version is just around the corner.
I would seriously consider a more powerful handheld, a "Pocket Mac" if you will because as I travel more on business it would be nice to be able to do some word processing, number crunching, e-mail etc. without lugging a laptop but with more horsepower than the Palm units. Such a Pocket Mac would have to at least sync with desktop software in Windows (Boo! Hiss!!) as I'm unlikely to get away said OS at work anytime soon. Since most Pocket PC users are still bitching about the shabby detailing on that system, perhaps there's an opening for an Apple box. As long as it doesn't cost 3X what a Pocket PC costs....

I used to have a Compaq iPaq, but when I bought my iBook, I returned it to Best Buy and picked up a DV Video camera. (Gotta love BB's return policy!)
I'd LOVE an Apple "Pocket Mac" PDA, and I think it's right down the alley that Apple is heading right now.
Teaming with Palm might be a cheaper, and possibly shorter term alternative, to test the PDA waters....
Geeze, I miss taking notes at college on my iPaq....

I'm aching for a wireless PDA from Apple - I have a feeling that some upcoming iPod model will be just that!

Here's a recent article about Woz - all around actually. It includes info about his new wireless-focused company..

Here's a MacWorld UK article (http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/main_news.cfm?NewsID=5501) about the other Steve's new PDA from Danger (http://www.danger.com/products.php), wonder how well it will sync with Mac OS X?

I don't know about that Danger thing, I'm a bit shallow when it comes to design and functionality.
Wait for Nokia to come through if they get their act together. The 8910i is a good step forward.
Although this may belong in the "hallowed halls" of spymac, I think it would be a bad idea for Apple to go for the PDA thing. It's a little crowded. The iPhone idea may be a better route. I'd better shut up now.

My Palm m500 has been nothing but useful for me and the Palm Desktop (http://www.palm.com/software/desktop/mac.html) (free for anyone) software is solid. I've had no problem whatsoever with the final version (beta was another story) using Puma and Jaguar.
I hope Palm continues to update the Mac OS X desktop software, however I don't have high hopes based on their previous Mac track record.
I get a bit heated about the PDA side of things because I find them so useful, hard for me to swallow that Jobs thinks low of them - for everyday/ordinary life I get more out of my Palm (schedules, contacts, todo) than my huge Bondi Blue! (Did I really say that?)

Do you remember the iWalk that Spymac.com featured? What a mock-up device, they did a great job with that spoof!

That iWalk thing was so funny, the amount of people who sucked that up was amazing.
Well, I've been toying with the idea of getting a Zire. This is the way to go, a stripped down Palm with simple features. It even has a white/silver finish like a flattened iPod.
I have a friend working in a phone company on 3G phones and I just keep wondering when they're gonna come through. Looks like it's gonna take sometime.
The only thing that gets me interested now is either 3G or PDA's and 802.11b/g mesh networks in big cities. With the new wireless standard for encryption being updated next year it would be nice and secure. Even if 3G catches up then who would want to keep contacts, check email etc. etc. and browse on a 2.5 inch screen when you can do it with a nice PDA w/phone attached. Hell, it's just a small step up for an iBook, it's so light and small. Voice over IP on a PDA would be oh so nice.
Now would Apple do this? Haven't a clue.
Another question, Is 3G even being talked about in the US?
