Hot folder printing

Is there a way to use a hot folder setup to print PDF files to a networked lazer printer. My RIP produces PDF files, imposed, and I need to get them out to proof.
I am wondering if Folder Actions could be used, or if there was any other (preferably freeware) software.

Any comments would be appreciated.
