I have a 12 computers networked, 8 with X.2.8 and 4 with X.4. I have installed Remote Control 1.2 on all of them. The problem is I can't share screen with the 3 computers that have X.4, I get the error: "Command not authorized". I have gone to the sharing part of System Preferences on each client computer and checked the Apple Remote Desktop box, then in Access Privileges I have checked the On box for all users and I have checked the "Guests may request permission to control screen".
What else can I do?
Thank you for your help

I have a feeling that you need to update to ARD 2.2 certainly on tiger machines. I have recently had the same problem......using 1.2 after upgrade no probs.

Good luck

The controlled machines need to run at least the version of ARD of the controlling machine. If it's not too old, you can use ARD to remotely update the clients.

How do I upgrade from 1.2 to 2.2? Is there a free download or do I need to buy the software again?
Thanks

You need to buy a new licence. This is a major re-write of the application so they do not offer the admin software upgrade for free. That would also mean that you would have to update the ARD client on all the machines so they have version 2.2 as well as the ARD server software will only work with the same version client.
