I just read a very interesting article which has me convinced that Apple should raise their prices for services and products.

http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/39/26297.html

The arguments are so blindingly obvious to me, I think I'm going to donate a substantial amount of my paycheck soon.

Actually if Apple did raise the SRP on Mac OS X to match Win XP Pro's upgrade price (http://shopper.cnet.com/shopping/resellers/0-5196037-311-6534885.html?tag=st.sh.sr.pl.pr6534885) of $174.95 (Visual Studio.NET upgrade (http://shopper.cnet.com/shopping/resellers/0-9720042-311-7676185.html?tag=st.sh.sr.pl.pr7676185) is about $178 extra, of course), and then offered an upgrade for a mere $129 (including Developer Tools), I bet a lot of people would be applauding them for their excellent customer consideration. :p

Here's a great way to give Apple more money, buy your hardware or software in Europe.

It's really easy:

go to any site that offers a currency conversion service and compare the dollar against the euro. It's roughly 1:1 if you can't be bothered to look.

Look at Apple store in the US for your chosen hardware.

I've got a hankering for a 22" cinema display $2499 + tax

Look at the Apple store in Germany
still got that hankering! €3350 inc tax @16%, remove tax €528

As if by magic apple have 12% more money!

Actually Apple will end up with LESS money as current IRS code dictates that they pay taxes on the profits from that sale and Germany is also charging tax on the same profits...a double tax. This is one reason many U.S. companies are incorporating in the Bahamas.
