so I like my iPod, but would like a choice between black and white...then it hit me...why not a beige iPod? One that had the look and feel of a Mac Plus. You could either have a green/black display or a full color.

I already have a perfectly functional iPod, so I'm not in the market for another, beige or otherwise.
But I could see the attraction for an iPod that looks like a Classic or SE...

The Lisa, the original 128K Mac, the 512K 'Fat Mac', and the first runs of the 512Ke and the Mac Plus were beige, like the Apple ][e.
Later runs and the Mac II and later lines were designated as 'Apple Platinum,' if memory serves.

I'd pre order it. Then my Newton would have a retro mate :)

one benefit is that they might not be such fingerprint magnets like they are now.

You can have the stainless steel beadblasted or use a scotchbrite pad on it. My 2g iPod is kind of matte looking from a fine Scotchbrite type pad. I read somewhere that refinishing the stainless steel doesn't affect the warranty.

How about a clear one with discreet LEDs to 'visualize' the audio that comes through?
..or maybe a chameleon plastic iPod, as Apple's patents some months ago hinted towards!
