View Full Version : Unable to subscribe to a thread?
Hi
I've tried to subscribe to the thread "sleep vs. shut down" and it says that I don't have permission?
Could someone help me with that please?
Thanks.

You should have permission now; before you've posted twice, your rights here are somewhat limited (we do that to keep the spammers out). But now that you're at three posts, it should work fine.

Yes, I see that I am ok now.:D Thanks for your help. :)
P.S. Is it not a little silly to restrict subscribing to a thread until you have 2 or more posts? a spammer surely isn't a threat to the topic reply notification service? I mean, I'm more of a reader than a participator and I like to subscribe to threads. If I never post, but wish to read and keep track of a comment why can't I be allowed? surely I shouldn't be forced to post about nothing (and perhaps spam) so that I can get my thread subscriptions? all because of spammers?

I agree it's silly. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell through the admin interface, I can't set subscription rights on a per-user-group basis. This group we're using for spammers seems to be hard-coded to not allow subscribing, so there's nothing I can do to override it (if I could, I would).
