My wife's eMac (10.3.8) doesn't restart after a power failure (commonn here) and will not respond to the power button either. The only solution is to unplug the machine and leave it for about 30 minutes, then it will restart. Does anyone know why this is happening, and is there a way to fix it?

Thanks

On my G4 tower, when this happens it's because the PMU (power management unit) is out to lunch. I have to reset the PMU to fix it.

There is a fix to make this stop happening. A UPS (http://www.apc.com/products/category.cfm?id=13) (uninterruptible power supply).

Do a search here for how to reset the PMU...it's really easy and will let you restart.
