View Full Version : Writing an ISO image to CD - Requires 3rd party software?

If I want to write an ISO image to CDROM, is there a way to do this in OSX or do I need a third party software app? If the latter, any recommendations? Free/opensource is always good...

Your issue is to not have OS X burn the ISO as a cd but as data right ?
Instead of going to Disk Utility to burn your CD, try simply inserting the blank CD. It will mount to your desktop. Simply drag the ISO image to it. Then look on the CD and it should show the .iso image on it instead of creating a cd from it. If you see the .iso on the cd, right-click or control-click on the cd icon and burn it !

The ISO image is a disk image that I want to create a CD from. I do not want a data copy of the ISO image itself. I presume what you are recommending would simply give me a CD with a file on it called 'my_file.iso'. Whereas what I am looking for is creating the bootable CDROM with all the files contained within the ISO image.

Then you would have to go to Disk Utility and look in the Images menu. You will find all the options needed.

Yes. Disk Utility will burn a standard ISO image to CD without problem.
