Speakable items

I just loaded OS X (10.1.2) this week from 9.2.2. On the first day, I was playing with speakable items. It worked pretty well. Next day (and everyday since), the microphone does not show up on the screen (and needless to say, Speakable items does not work). I have a G4 400, 384mb ram, 13gb and 40gb internal. The mike is from my older Quadra 660AV. It is plugged in :) I have checked and pressed every button in speech preferences, but all I get now, after a few minutes, is "speakable items did not start", (or somthing to that effect).
Any ideas?

I think I'm having a similar problem to yours. When I turn on speech recognition in the Speech control panel, the utilizations goes up, and i get speech processes listed, but the little speech 'microphone' window doesn't show. Thus, I'm not able to use it. This happened just recently, as it used to work. I tried deleting multiple pref files in /Library/Preferences, and ~/Library/Preferences, but it still doesn't work.

I am not getting the message that you got though...

I'm on OS 10.2.1, with a USB mic.
