I really love Macosxhints and I'd like to find some other good mac sites out there. Of course, I could google and look at a bunch, but I would rather hear viewers of this site's (people with good taste) opinions.

Hi chrisf79,
I asked that harmless question here once long long ago and it got really cold. Most feel like you are jumping ship by suggesting another site to visit therefore it gets frigid. This is the best Mac forum for help. Do a google search as I did and find a few more resources to explore but you will ultimately reach the conclusion that you are batting a thousand at Xhints. Places like these have long memories. Loyalty counts.

Oh, I definitely love this site. I just started posting on the forum about a week ago and I'm enjoying the responses people are giving. I like to read news about apple products, get other tips, etc, so why not look at other sites?

before coming to this site I would do the forums over at Macnn.com

There are a lot more people over there - and a lot more opinions/rants about things which is why I started coming here.

Actually, I'm not a big believer on the loyalty front [I mean, if you come here because it's consistently useful, that's nice, but I need to make sure it remains useful -- you shouldn't feel the need to visit due to 'loyalty' if there's nothing of interest!], and I think there are a lot of great Mac sites out there. Most of them coexist peacefully without overlapping too much. Some of the ones I visit most, off the top of my head are:

www.macintouch.com, www.macobserver.com, www.macsurfer.com, www.macupdate.com, www.insidemacgames.com, www.macworld.com/forums, www.macfixit.com, www.macminute.com....

Hehe ... my biggest problem, in fact, is that I'm so busy with the main hints site and other projects that I don't get nearly enough time to come around *here* and help more! :)

Well, I will throw in a few of my main-liners.

http://www.macworld.com/news/ - For quickie news.
http://discussions.info.apple.com - For specific topics and a second opinion.
http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx - To find that ONE utility I need.
http://meritline.com/meritline/ - For media purchases
http://www.macconnection.com/Home - Good place to buy toys

And my favorite cross-platform CD - http://www.holylandvirtualtour.com ;)

I work with Macs for a living and the macintouch site is one that I don't want to miss a day of. To me it's like the New York Times of the Mac web. In Internet years it's as old as the New York Times, starting over a decade ago as a column in MacWeek magazine.

Macsurfer is good because I find things in there from a wide variety of sources, from small personal blogs to the New York times. It takes some effort to sift through all of the listings though.

I think that MacOSXHints is superb, both the hints site and the forum.
