Help with identifying my iBook

When trying to qualify my iBook 12" 1.2 G4 for the upgrade to iLife '05, I entered my serial number and it returned "serial number not found".

Also, on the box of my system, the model number is A1054. From Apple's list of qualifying computers at http://www.apple.com.sg/ilife/uptodate/list.html, all model numbers seem to start with the letter M, e.g. M9626. What gives? Is my set a refurbished set or "illegitimate"? I bought it from an authorized reseller. Everything looks very new out of the box.

BTW, my invoice date of my iBook is 24Jan'05 and my serial number is 4H5030K0S87. Can anyone help pls? Thanks in advance.

It may be that the serial number "isn't found" because the computer hasn't yet been registered with Apple? Try registering it on the webpage:

Sorry I forgot to mention I have already registered with Apple. Still very curious, anyone here has model nos. not starting with M... ?

Also, do all serial nos for iBooks begin with UV..., cos mine doesn't.

Where are you getting the serial number you're using for the upgrade? You should use the number that's reported by Apple's System Profiler (Select "About this Mac…" under the Apple menu and click "More Info…"). If this fails, give Apple a call. I''m sure they will help resolve your issue.
