Since I installed Panther on my G4, I keep having those weird crashes where suddenly a grey curtain comes down and a restart notice in multiple langages appears on the screen. I am not the only one who's been witnessing such specific crashes, but no information so far on what is going on and how to fix it. I reinstalled panther already, checked the RAM and all, but it keeps on happening... the problem is hidden somewhere else. Any ideas?

This is what is called a "kernel panic" - knowing this term may help you in your searches.
You should run through the standard troubleshooting list:

Did you use 'memtest' to check the RAM? That's the most effective way:

Did you restart from the Install CD and repair the filesystem (with "Repair Disk" from Disk Utility)?
