I need to visit a site, click a link to view a password protected pdf. Instead of using Acrobat Reader to view the pdf, Preview pops up. Preview does not allow the password to be entered and I get a blank pdf. So far been unable to change the file helper/ protocol helper prefs in IE to allow Acrobat Reader to be the default for pdfs.
Thanks.

have you launched acrobat and fiddled with the preferences:options:web browser options ?
give that a try and let us know.

Can you control-click on the link and do a "Save As" to save it to the disk and then open it with Acrobat?
Another option is to change OS X's desire to use Preview for PDF's. Select a PDF, and change the preferred application to Acrobat. Click the button to apply to all documents, and that should be the end of Preview :-).

Dang, ya'll are good. And quick. Fiddling with IE and Acrobat prefs did no good. But it looks like success. Selecting a pdf and changing the preferred app to Acrobat, apply to all docs, and no more Preview! Excellent. Thanks!
