help! my computer refuses to shut down

my computer refuses to shut down. what can i do?

the only way to switch it off is to hold down the power key for a long time

anyone any clues?

using the apple menu doesn't work either

all this happened after i messed around with the fonts (see my previous post)

There might be relevant error messages in the system.log
Launch the "Console" application and look back at the messages from the time when you last tried to shutdown.

If this started after you fiddled with some fonts, maybe try just putting the fonts back the way they were.
