geek 3.5 firewire enclosure problem -- am i the only one?

I just got the geek 3.5 firewire enclosure and I put in my original g4 10 gig drive in it but it hangs up when it sits for about 20 minutes. The red light comes on and then when u try to access it via the finder you get the spinning rainbow forever.... and ever

So is this incompatable with OSX10.1.4?

This how the geeks responded...
"Have you been able to use the case with OS X 10.1.3? Unfortunately, we have not tested it with 10.1.4 yet, but I understand that update is somewhat buggy."

So anyone else using the $60 geek usb 2.0/firewire combo drive via firewire and having success??
