My wife and I share a PowerBook at home, and have separate user accounts. The trouble is, we share a quicken account. Is there any simple, intuitive way to share it so that we can both write to it from our respective user accounts? Naturally, there would be only one user at a time.

I believe if you left the data file in /Users/Shared and made sure you were both in the same group, that it would work.

I agree with yellow - as Quicken usually remembers the data file's location after you open it.

I wanted my Quicken data stored encrypted for security, so I have a disk image called banking.dmg in /Users/Shared/. Quicken 2004 knows how to open the .dmg to get to its files, and DiskImageMounter will prompt me for my password in the process.

Even better, the resulting disk volume has "Ignore ownership on this volume" checked in Get Info, so whoever can mount it can own, read, write the Quicken file. No problems with users, groups, umasks, chmod, etc.
