View Full Version : Quark 6 Win vs. Quark 4 Mac

I was given several large Quark 5 Windows-created documents that I'm trying to get into InDesign CS on my Mac.

I have access to Quark 6.1 on a Windows machine and the documents open fine, but won't save them as anything older than Quark 5.

I have Quark 4.0 on my Mac, but can't upgrade.

And, apparently, InDesign can't open anything newer than Quark 4.

I can export as eps, but some of these docs are 20 pages+ and that will kill me.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think Markzware has a converter program (not free unfortunately). But otherwise you have to do them page by page. If you need to do very small text edits, then you could do that in Acrobat on a PDF, then import them into ID.

I'd recommend trying to find someone (even online) who has Quark 5 (preferably on Mac) who could then save them down to version 4 to then open up in ID. I'd do it for you if I had Quark 5!

I've got all Quarks, in both PC and Mac flavours. If you want to set up an FTP arrangement I'll happily save them down (and open in ID if you want). I only need the quark files, not the graphics, so it should be easily do-able online.

Good luck
