Where does the ConsoleMessage command dump its output? I can't find expected outputs from the various start up scripts in any of the /var/log files. Thanks.

/var/tmp/console.log
Go figure.

During the rc boot process, messages like "Multiuser startup in process" and "Starting virtual memory" should be displayed, though I'm not getting these logged in Console.log. Do you? As far as I can tell, they aren't being saved in the buffer (dmesg) either. Thanks, again.

I don't know if these get logged or not. They are the little messages that are displayed during statup (Configuring Network, etc) However, most of these things happen so quickly there isn't really time to draw it before it's done. If you need to, you could add a command to the StartupItem that specifically logs that data you need. (Like if it was successful, or whatever.) You are talking about the ConsoleMessages that are in a StartupItem, right?

Boot messages are logged in /var/log/system.log. You may have to check one of the archives (.0 or .*.gz) to find boot messages if your machine has been up for any length of time.
