View Full Version : Jumbled Text in Safari and Apple Address Book

When using Safari and now the Apple Address Book (wouldn't suprise me if it happened with Apple Mail), a lot of text areas are coming in scrambled. They will display what just seems to be random letters in place of the correct text, as in Safari, and scrambled title headings for the address book.
Does anyone kno wwhat causes this, and how it can be fixed?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Have you been using Font Book very recently? Or playing with fonts generally. You may have disabled the font that these applications need to function correctly.

I have no idea! But I've been trying to figure this one out myself. It's happened to me 3 times now. First two times I did a reinstall and problem solved... and yes, I had replaced the fonts. However I've installed adobe font folio and this time I didn't replace ANYTHING, and it's doing it again. I'm stumped.

I haven't had it happen in quite some time. I am pretty sure it's a font issue. I've gone into all the font folders in all the libraries (there'sa lot to look for) and removed most of the apple dfonts, especially one that I have postscript verions of.
I did not throw them away. Just placed them in a folder outside of the system, called unused system fonts.
Hope that helps. Good luck.

I think I narrowed it down to Helvetica Neue on my computer, it sends things screwy..... might be worth trying Font Finagler, it will trash your font cache and should sort the problem, its free too, have a look on macupdate :D
