I would be surprised if it is still a current model but i have an epson 740 and it is a great printer for me. there is OSX drivers and also i am running it through an axis 1440 print server for ethernet and there is no drivers for the 740 for this but i found a hack that made it work on both my X boxes. I have printed off roughly about 4500 prints out of it and it is still going strong. my brother has an HP 832 i think (not totally sure) and he seems to like it a lot except he mentioned that he does not like the amount of desktop space it takes.

Well.. i bought a Canon S600, as i was able to get it on teh cheep side of things.
And this is what has happened so far..
1) Set up the printer, it was auto detected and added in.
2) I was going 'Yayyay!' type of thing..
3) Then it wouldnt print text. Only pictures.
4) I was going 'Argh!' flame flame type of thing..
5) Nothing i did made it work..
6) Downloaded drivers off of the Canon site and when i went to add in the printer after installing the drivers.. Print Center died. Every Time.
7) Was told by a friend that it is Mac OS X 10.1.4 problem and not Canon's drivers.
Sigh..
Not what i wanted :)
It was amazing tho.. Couldnt get it to work on 9.2 either.. or Redhat 7.2..
Hrm..
I might have a look at the HP's. I heard bad stories of the Epson's, so i might stay away from them.

I second staying away from Epson - I've gone through three in a little over a year (luckily, warranty covered it so I only had to pay once...). When the third one broke (the ink dispensing part somehow tore the ribbon that connected it to the data, in very non-technical terms), I went and bought a hp deskjet 960c - have had nothing but good experiences with it. I've had it for about 5-6 months, and the only problem I have had with it was one paper jam, that took about 15 seconds to clear.
Just FYI, I usually use my printer a couple of times a week, mostly to print pdf's from my course websites (the nice thing about engineering, little to no paper writing is required).

The HPs that are priced at about $150 are excellent. I own a PhotoSmart 1115 ($180 from Costco). It is an amazing printer and I love it. It blows away the Epson 860 it replaced. I won't go into the details, but I am NEVER buying anything Epson again. HP has never failed me, and I have 4 HP printers and 3 HP computers. (I don't love PCs, but they are a necessity sometimes.)

Epson's C40 is a super printer at $49, less than the 2 cartridges that come with it. A $150 gets you the Epson C80 with pigment inks for permanence and high speed that rivals a laser. But the best photo printer going is the Epson 785, at around $175.
I'm on my 4th Epson printer as I keep chasing higher quality and higher speed. My experience with Epson has been high reliability, always MAC compatibile, and photo quality that the neighbors envy.
Well its all fixed :)
the Canon S600 works fine. It was a screwed up nozzel which some bugger probly touched and runined. Or it had been on the display table for too long.
Everything is all good :)
