Slow scrolling on iPod

Hi, all. Has anyone noticed slowness in the iPod scrolling after using it for awhile? I notice that wiping and out and starting it fresh temporarily fixes this, but I was wondering why it does this and how I could prevent it. I have a 15 gig dock capable iPod with about 8 gigs of music, and A LOT of notes.
