Hey All OSX People!

I've been working in linux based environments and Im setting up an old OSX server for simple file storage through SAMBA and NFS.

Anyway, Im using webmin to do all admin tasks such as adding new user, its all working fine, but
there are a couple of things I just cant do in OSX in the same way I do it in linux.

How do I set ownership of folders in OSX? When I do 'chown user:group <folder>' on my second
disk it does nothing, all the same 'root:unknown' is set on all folder???

Why is that? Im using Jaguar, is that the problem? will panther solve this problem? how is ownership
handled in OSX?????

All feedback on this topic is more than welcome ... can figure out how to handle this machine!

Best,

-mike-

Open the disk in the finder. Get info by clicking Apple-i. Uncheck the box that says, "Ignore ownership on this volume".
