This sounds silly, I know, but...

I am using qualitative data analysis software (NVivo) that runs only on windoze 2000 and requires documents be imported as rtf, txt or doc format.

I need a browser that will let me save websites in any of these formats so that I can import the internet "data" I am collecting into NVivo.

I am currently doing my searches in IE on windoze 2000 and I HATE it. I find that it hurts my eyes (My eyes never hurt like this after working in OSX for hours) and it generally slows me down.

Any browsers you know of that do this? I have ruled out Safari, mozilla/firefox, camino and IE for mac.

Thanks!

Don't Firefox/Mozilla/Camino all have the ability to save as text?

And IE hurts your eyes, or Win2K does? Because if it's just IE you can get Firefox and Mozilla for Windows.

I think it is windows that is hurting my eyes- mostly the lack of font smoothing I think. And I am using my department's windows server so I am not allowed to install any of my own software on it.

As far as I can tell mozilla/firefox/camino all have the ability to save as text- but the extension remains .html and therefore I am not allowed to import the files into NVivo.

Maybe I am missing something with the extension thing. I've never had to do much in windoze before so compatibility has never been an issue.

Um, change the extension, perhaps?

If you have Windows Explorer set to "Hide extensions for known file types" this can be done via the command prompt. Or you can just turn that off so you can get to the extension. (Located in Windows Explorer "Tools->Folder Options" on the 'View' tab)

Yes, just changing the extension to txt will do the job, at least on a text save in Mozilla. It seems this should be done by the browser, but it doesn't.
