Ever notice how out of place the ScriptMenu (http://www.apple.com/applescript/macosx/script_menu/) icon looks? Why is it that icky black?

Well someone complained about it over at the Apple Discussions forums and also mentioned that when clicked on, the icon looked much better, that got me to thinking maybe someone accidentally swapped the mask and the icon...why not switch them back the other way?

1) find your ScriptMenu.menu, mine is in /Library/MenuBar Additions

2) control-click on it and select "Show package contents"

3) navigate to ScriptMenu.menu/Contents/Resources

4) make backups of these two files (in case you want to put it back the other way or doing the hack causes some unforseen problem):

9likemenumask2.tiff
blackmask2.tiff

5) swap their filenames

6) log out, log back in

Neat trick, definitly looks much better.

However, you don't have to log out and log back in, just killing the SystemUIServer works too.

you don't have to kill anything to get the new icon.

just command-drag the ScriptMenu icon out of the menu, then drag the ScriptMenu package back to the menu bar.

You can do that to make the volume menu loose its white background on non aqua themes

here (http://homepage.mac.com/dschep/ss.jpg) is a screen shot

rather than this one (http://www.russcam.com/temp/menubar.jpg)

I don't see the difference between the volume menu items you showed in those 2 screen shots...except that the volume was at a different level in each of them.

The second one has a little bit of white here (http://homepage.mac.com/dschep/volume.jpg)
this isn't very visible in this shot but is more visible when the volume is higher

I will try to upload a better shot soon

I can't find ScriptMenu, menu on my computer... It seems to have vanished.:(

I have <com.apple.scriptmenu.plist> in my Prefs folder so I had it at some point.

Where can I get it again?

Go to Applications>Applescript>AppleScript Utility.app and enable it.
