I have a 1st generation iPod that had the old (normal) firewire connection, and I was using it yesterday and it worked like it always does. Today however I plug it in and, I get the OK to disconnect screen but it never mounts. I have tried multiple computers and different firewire cables to no avail. I rana asystem update and installed the iPod software 1.3.1 and it saw the iPod and installed. But still it doesn't mount. Any one have any idea why this would happen or any ideas on what I should do next?

The iPod doesn't show up on any other Macs either?

no, I've tried 2. A G4 iMac and a Dual G4 powerMac. Both do the same exact thing. The iPod looks like it wakes up when it is plugged in but it isn't charging and it says OK to disconnect.

how do you reset the iPod and does it delete the information on it?

It does not delete the info, at least it never has on my 1st gen iPod. Hold down the menu button and the play button until the Apple symbol comes up.

OK, it looks like it reset, but still nothing. Does exactly the same things it was doing before. Any other ideas?

or

and you'll probably find some more iPod-knowledgable folks there..
