Hello All!

I'm (a PC using (Boo - Hiss! ;))) college instructor looking for some ideas.

I'm teaching a class, Introduction to Multmedia and have been put into a class that is all Macs running OS X.

I know nothing really of OS X and would like to create a small run of tutorials not only for my students to get the basics, but also for myself!

So here is my question ... I've got 8 weeks (2 - 3hour classes/week) left and need to give these guys some sort of introduction to the Mac. What would be the 5 most important introductory things that I should cover?

This class is not an, Introduction to Mac class hence it's not something I can spend a lot of time on, but I do need to give them something as they're totally lost with the Macs thus far.

Any ideas will be GREATLY appreciated.

P.S ~ I'm also wondering about resource sites where I can get some good info as well. I've been having a bit of trouble finding places that are more than just tips and hints. Some places that have more in depth stuff would be nice.

Welcome to the fold! I'm not a teacher, so I'll just recommend this book (http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/switchmacmm/index.html?CMP=IL7015) on switching to Macs from Wintels for your own consumption and allow you to take it from there. If your course is an introduction to multimedia then you probably already know someone who uses a Mac for such purposes. Have you asked around locally?

I've used Macs before but it was OS 9 and two years ago hence my knowledge is very limited. I don't really know anyone local that is a Mac user. I did manage to contact a person that teaches Introduction to Mac and he even lent me 'Mac OS X - A Visual Quick Start Guide' but there's way more in that book then I need to share with the students.

As I said, I'm mostly looking for is what people (Seasoned Mac Users) feel are really important things that one should know off the hope. Then I was planning to research those topics. So far I've started off with stuff like, 'What is the Finder ... etc.' but really, what I've got here are people that are PC users sitting there with confused looks on thier faces. :)

I also looked for that book you mentioned as it seems like the perfect book for my needs, but the store didn't have it.
